Vince Lombardi, Vlocity and the TM Forum Excellence Awards
Vince Lombardi once said: “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is.” For the second year running, Vlocity has been nominated to win the prestigious TM Forum Excellence Award.
If you are in the communications industry, you know that making it to the finalist round for this coveted award is a significant accomplishment, a recognition of innovation and proven success in transforming the telco industry.
Last year the winners included Salesforce, O2 and KPN: The best-of-the-best in the communications space. And for 2017, the slate of finalists is a “who’s who” of innovators.
Vince Lombardi is considered by many to be the greatest coach in football history. During the 1960s, he led the Green Bay Packers to five total NFL Championships in seven years, in addition to winning the first two Super Bowls. Like Vince, Vlocity wants to win, too: We want to win for our customers, for Salesforce, for our partners and for the “Industry Cloud” team.
And like Vince’s two Super Bowl wins, Vlocity has achieved two finalist slots this year in Nice, France (when the winners are announced on May 15, 2017 at TM Forum Live!). Two nominations in one year? That’s correct: Vlocity+Salesforce together have been nominated as a finalist TWICE – in TWO leadership categories. The official announcement can be found here.
Finalist Award #1: Smart Service Provider – Business Transformation of the Year Award. This award recognizes the communications, digital infrastructure or media service provider which has made the greatest strides in transforming to a low cost, agile and customer-centric operating model. Vlocity+Salesforce has been nominated for “Transforming the Customer Experience for a Leading Pay TV Provider.” Other finalists include our partners and customers: Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services, and Verizon / Ericsson.
Vlocity is being recognized for its work with Salesforce, the world’s leading Customer Success company, and Sky Italia, a leader in the communications industry. Sky Italia implemented Vlocity and Salesforce to modernize its customer experience, enhance operational efficiency and enable a phased transition from its on-premise CRM system to the cloud. The Sky Italia team decided the telecom-specific Vlocity Communications solution with Salesforce would enable faster time to value, a lower cost of ownership and provide additional business benefits than other options in the market. Today, more than 7,600 contact center, sales, retail and field service users use the Salesforce and Vlocity solution.

Finalist Award #2: Outstanding Contribution to Enabling Improved Customer Centricity Award. This award recognizes the company which has made an outstanding and innovative contribution to accelerating the use and adoption of data analytics within the communications industry. Achievements can include enabling new levels of customer experience, supporting new Internet of Everything business models, enabling new levels of security, privacy and trust, or driving new service provider revenue. The award can be for a product, service, concept or idea which will inspire wide adoption. Salesforce.com / Vlocity have been nominated for the Salesforce+Vlocity Customer-Centric Platform of Engagement.

There are many inspiring quotations attributed to the great Vince Lombardi. Vince once said: “The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.” While true for the football field, I’d like to amend Vince’s quote for the innovation field. In our industry, achievements are the result of the combined effort of each individual across many organizations. In achieving the TM Forum recognition, the efforts of each Vlocity team member, and those at Salesforce, our partners and our customers like Sky Italia, mark our collective achievement. We humbly accept these prestigious nominations on behalf of the broader community, in honor of the incredible ecosystem that Salesforce has created, and in celebration of our extended team.
